March 2, 2020:  MDS is looking to hire a Children's Service Coordinator. Children’s Service Coordinators serve as a resource to assist, advise and inform families to access available community services and supports. Support is provided in a manner that enables families to realize their own powers and rights.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Collaborate with families to identify and assess their needs.
* Provide direction to families in times of crisis.
* Encourage families to acquire the skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to meet the needs of the entire family.
* Inform families of family support options and connect families with area agency and community resources as needed i.e. respite and trainings.
* Keep abreast of state laws and regulations.
* Develop department procedures within agency and state guidelines.
* Keep abreast of community resources to better support families and answer questions.
* Maintain children’s files to meet regulatory requirements and compliance with program.
* Ensure absolute confidentiality with respect to information records concerning families and children.
* Represent the agency and serves as a spokesperson at state and local conferences and meetings.

SKILLS/EDUCATION
* Bachelor's degree or High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3-4 years experience in human services indicating increasing responsibilities including supervisory experience.
* Ability to communicate effectively orally or in writing.
* Knowledge and practice of conflict resolution and facilitation of meetings.
* Ability to maintain professional limits and boundaries.
* Skilled in computer applications and accurate data entry.
* Knowledge of special education laws.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work schedule is usual office hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 4:30 pm), with flexibility to accommodate individuals served, their family, and agency schedules/events. Must be physically able to access family homes, community buildings, program sites.
