Local chapters of ABLE NH are hosting a series of Community Meetings in April in several towns in the Monadnock region in the wake of budget cuts being considered in Concord. We have invited our legislators to meet with constituents for a public meeting to discuss next steps in the budget process. This is a chance for community members to come together to discuss how the budget will affect voters in the Monadnock region.

These meetings are scheduled in Jaffrey at the VFW on Saturday, April 2, 6:00 pm; in Chesterfield at the Chesterfield School on Sunday, April 3, 6:00 p.m.; in Peterborough at Reynolds Hall on Sunday, April 10, 6:00 pm; in Antrim at the Grapevine on Sunday, April 17, 6:00 p.m.; and in Keene at LifeArt Community Center on Wednesday, April 20 at 6:00 p.m. Check the Action Alert Update page or the MDS events calendar for detailed information. If you would like to organize a meeting in your voting district, ABLE can help.

Potential cuts for Developmental Disabilities services include Wait List funding, Family Support and Respite, Independent Living Supports, Day Services funding, Partners in Health, Early Supports and Services (ESS), and In-Home Support services.

Cuts will also affect Mental Health, Homeless Support, Substance Abuse Prevention, Community Health Centers, Children’s Services, NH Legal Assistance, Education, Long Term Care, Foster Grandparents Program, Transportation, Domestic Violence and Alzheimer’s Caregiver Programs.

We hope to see you at one of these community meetings so you can let your voice be heard by the representatives who serve us.
