After months of heated debate, the FY 2012-2013 New Hampshire budget has gone into effect as of July 1, 2011, with approval by both House and Senate but without the signature of the Governor.

The approved budget is the most recent version that was presented by the Senate in June and includes the restoration of House version’s drastic cuts to disabilities services. It also includes an allocation of $6 million over two years ($2 million in FY 2012, $4 million in FY 2013) statewide to serve people from the Wait List. Although the amount budgeted will not fully meet our needs, our portion of the $6 million approved will be beneficial to some of those individuals and their families on the Wait List.

Unfortunately, the approved budget does include some reductions in In-Home Support Waiver and non-Medicaid Family Support funds. However BDS plans to work closely with MDS and the other area agencies to manage those reductions without cutting any ongoing individual allocations within those two service areas.
