On Wednesday, April 25 the Senate Finance Committee voted 7-0 to spend $1.5 million dollars to help families on the developmental disabilities waiting list. This state spending would be federally matched under the “DD Waiver” for a total of $3 million. The bill (with amendments) now goes to the full Senate on May 2nd. If passed HB 1652 will go back to the House, where members will vote on the Senate's changes.

Updates on this and other issues available in our Advocacy section.

HB 1652 requires the transfer of insurance premium tax revenue to the Department of Health and Human Services and the revenue stabilization reserve account. This legislation provides $1.5 million in general funds to the DD wait list, which will be matched with federal Medicaid money under the Developmental Disability Medicaid Waiver. This means the total funding is $3 million. The hearing is in Room 103 of the State House.

All who can are encouraged to attend the hearing to support the families currently on the DD wait list. If you cannot attend the hearing, please contact your State Senator and ask her or him to support the section of HB 1652 that transfers $1.5 million in general funds to the DD waitlist.
